Cable Lateral Raise

How to do it

  1. Set a pulley to the lowest position and attach a single handle.
  2. Stand sideways to the machine with your feet shoulder-width apart and grasp the handle with the hand farthest from the pulley, letting the cable run in front of your body.
  3. Hold the machine or place your free hand on your hip for balance, keeping a slight bend in your working elbow. This will be your starting position.
  4. Leading with your elbow, raise your arm out to the side in a wide arc until it is parallel to the floor at shoulder height. Exhale as you lift and keep your torso still.
  5. Slowly lower the handle back to the starting position as you inhale, resisting the pull of the cable.
  6. Repeat for the recommended amount of repetitions, then switch arms.
