Deficit Push-Up

How to do it

  1. Place two sturdy, stable supports, such as low blocks or weight plates, shoulder-width apart on the floor.
  2. Get into a push-up position with one hand flat on each support and your body in a straight line from head to heels.
  3. Brace your core and lower your body by bending your elbows, letting your chest drop below the level of your hands for a deeper stretch than a standard push-up.
  4. Keep your elbows at roughly 45 to 75 degrees from your torso as you descend, and don't let your hips sag or pike up.
  5. Press back up powerfully to the starting position, fully extending your arms.
  6. Repeat for the prescribed number of repetitions.
