How to do it

  1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand in front of your thighs with an overhand grip. This will be your starting position.
  2. Set a slight bend in your knees, brace your core, and pull your shoulder blades down and back.
  3. Hinge at your hips, pushing them back as you lower the dumbbells down the front of your legs. Keep your back flat and the weights close to your body.
  4. Lower until you feel a strong stretch in your hamstrings, typically around mid-shin, without rounding your lower back.
  5. Drive your hips forward and squeeze your glutes to return to standing, then repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
