Snatch-Grip Deadlift

How to do it

  1. Stand with your mid-foot under a loaded barbell and grip the bar with a very wide, double overhand grip, similar to the grip used for a snatch.
  2. Drop your hips lower than in a conventional deadlift, keep your chest up and your back flat, and pull the slack out of the bar. This will be your starting position.
  3. Drive through your heels and stand up with the bar, keeping it close to your body as your hips and knees extend together.
  4. Finish tall with your hips fully extended and your shoulders pulled back.
  5. Lower the bar back to the floor under control by pushing your hips back and bending your knees, keeping your back flat throughout.
